After being intibated for the night, Connor was extubated this morning and is doing fairly well. At first he was a little silly from all of the medications, but they have since started to wear off and he is in some pain. We will be trying to get him to eat later this afternoon once everything wears off.
The doctor says we will be taking the recovery one step at a time. The first step was to get him extubated, and the next is to get him to eat. If he has trouble eating we will put in a feeding tube temporarily and give him more time to heal. I will let everyone know how he is doing with eating tomorrow.
We are prepared for a long night of rocking a little man in lots of pain. : ) Last night we didn't get much sleep either because he is such a strong little guy and the just couldn't keep him fully sedated and he kept trying to roll over and get at the breathing tube.
